Dedicating a week to thinking about and practicing kindness is a strong way to enrich the OMS community and help create a positive culture.

Led by students, the No Name Calling Weeks at each school used posters, discussions, a school-wide art activity, and a video to emphasize the importance of respect and kindness when talking and interacting with others.

Students in all grade levels had the opportunity to view, discuss, and think about book illustrations, the artists that create them, and how pictures contribute to the story before voting for the book they believed deserved the coveted Caldecott Medal Award.

Spending a morning learning about the academic environment and choices, asking questions, touring the building, and experiencing possible electives through classroom visits helps to ease the stress anxiety of moving to a new school and gets eighth grade students ready to choose the classes they will take in the ninth grade.

Workshops, clinics, and rehearsals precede performances in Carnegie Hall for Arlington High School vocalists and instrumentalists at the Choirs of America “Nationals for Top Choirs” Festival in April.

Whether they were original pieces or covers, written in the ‘70s or the 17th century, jazzy, traditional, or classical, the delivery of the works by the Arlington High School music technologists, instrumentalists and vocalists delighted the audiences at the first three concerts of the 2023-2024 season.

The new high school proved to be an excellent venue for the St. Nick Showdown, a Massachusetts Speech and Debate League competition hosted by the
Arlington High School Speech and Debate Team.

Being named to the Wasabi Fenway Bowl Honor Roll and serving as a guest lecturer at the All-State Music Convention in West Virginia has made November and December 2023 meaningful months for Arlington High School’s Sabatino D’Agostino.

This year’s Wellness Workshops promoted a sense of belonging within the Arlington High School community as students, teachers, and staff took a break, connected with one another, thought about mental health, and learned and practiced self-care skills.
