The state National History Day competition was held on April 6 and both AHS and OMS students have projects that are advancing to national competition. Five Arlington High School projects competed at the state level and two are moving forward. Six out of the 10 Ottoson Middle School projects that competed will be at Nationals. This is the largest group of Arlington Public Schools National History Day projects to have been selected for national competition, which will be held at the University of Maryland from June 9-13, then ever before.

Three projects received Honorable Mention. They will not be moving on in the competition.
Congratulations to everyone whose projects went from the regional to the state competition, and the Social Studies teachers who advised them: Emily Tessier at AHS, Jason Levy at OMS, and Adam Amster at Gibbs. Good luck to the students whose projects gained the recognition at the state level that enables them to move on to the national competition.
